This week, Radiohead’s PolyFauna app, which they describe as coming from “an interest in early computer life-experiments and the imagined creatures of our subconscious,” released the first few new tracks from the band in three years.

Per Wired, the new music is more ambient than than anything else, featuring “an atmospheric assemblage of beats and singing,” but that sound may point to the direction for their ninth studio album, which the group is supposed to currently be working on according to Jonny Greenwood.

The app was created by digital arts studio Universal Everything in collaboration with Thom Yorke, Stanley Donwood and producer Nigel Godrich. The app is designed to shift in ambient sound depending on how the user tilts and turns their phone.
